Ireland West Airport Knock welcomes announcement of €868,569 in funding for Ireland West Airport Knock

(Thursday 22nd December 2016) Ireland West Airport Knock welcomes today’s announcement of funding of €868,569 to Ireland West Airport Knock under the Public Policy Remit Core Airport Management Operational and Expenditure Subvention (PPR-O) for 2016.

The Programme provides for Exchequer support to contribute towards the significant operational costs associated with air traffic control, fire, safety and security at the airport.

Joe Kennedy, Chairman of the Airport, welcoming todays announcement said ‘We wish to acknowledge in particular the support of the Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TD and Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, TD in awarding this funding for the airport. We also wish to acknowledge Minister Michael Ring TD and local representatives for their ongoing support for the airport in 2016. The Airport has had a very busy year with major milestones such as celebrating our 30th anniversary, welcoming the US Vice President to the West, achieving our 10 millionth passenger milestone and also recording record passenger numbers of 730,000 for the first time in the airports history. We look forward to continuing to work with Government on a long term commitment & investment to support the Airport’s growth and development plans’
