Ireland West Airport Knock officially opens new 'dancefloor' in departures hall

You asked, we listened. Over 2,500 surveys were carried out lastmonth where we asked passengers what improvements they would like to see introduced at the airport. There were a lot of excellent suggestions but the most popular by far with over 1,200 requests, was for a dance floor in our departures area. Passengers felt they needed something to ‘destress’ before their flight and that a good old ‘boogy’ would put them in the mood for their sun holiday or city break.

Commenting on this new initiative Donal Healy, Marketing Manager said ’We always listen to what our passengers have to say and are delighted today to be the first airport in the world to be officially opening our new ‘funky floor dancefloor’ in the departures hall. There will be a live DJ on hand to play your favourite requests before you depart, popular tunes available are ‘come fly with me’ 'leaving on a jet plane’, ‘fly me to the moon, and the old Westlife favourite ‘flying without wings’. . The dancefloor can hold up to 50 people, but for €5 extra you will be able to ‘priority board you and your friends to the dancefloor before everyone else. On request we will also be able to dim the lights in departures for slow sets. Who knows you may meet your future wife or husband before your flight’

Our new reservation system is now open where you can send us in what songs you would like to hear before your flight. To prebook our dancefloor for you and your friends before your flight you can do so now by emailing [email protected]
