Ireland West Airport Knock is pleased to announce that it has recently carried out a major upgrade of it’s CCTV (Closed-circuit television) cameras and systems throughout the various areas at the airport including operational and commercial areas, car parks, and the passenger apron.
The upgrade included the integration of 35 state of the art modern infrared and fully visual digital cameras, up to date real time recording technology and the latest video capture capability allowing real time issues to be addressed by management and security staff at the airport on an immediate basis. In addition the new technology upgrades to the airport car park now features Car Number Plate Recognition capabilities at both our car park entrance and exit gates which will greatly enhance the safety and security in the car park area.
These new upgrades ensures the safeguarding of the security of the airport and its property and the safety of staff/passengers and the general public using the airport.
Commenting on the completion of the project, Managing Director of Ireland West Airport Knock, Joe Gilmore Airport said that he was ‘pleased that these improvements and additions to the airport CCTV systems could be carried out and that they include up to the minute state of the art cameras that will significantly enhance the airport’s ability to ensure the safety and security of it’s airlines, staff, passengers and general public using the airport. He also added that ‘the vast majority of people using the airport pay the associated charges for car parking and other goods/services at the airport, however there is also a small number who seek to avoid paying for these services. The technology and systems now in place will ensure that such theft will be recorded and sent to the appropriate authorities for prosecution’
Speaking on behalf of the Gardai’ on the new security enhancements, Superintendent Ronan Galligan of Swinford Garda District welcomed this major upgrade to the CCTV network at the airport saying ‘It will provide a greater level of security to all persons travelling and using Ireland West Airport Knock . It will enable all security staff and Gardai to monitor persons and events at the airport in real time providing a greater level of security to persons who park their vehicles at the airport while on holidays. Gardai are aware that from time to time persons exit the car parks without paying the proper fees. With the aid of the upgraded CCTV system Gardai and airport Staff will be closely monitoring the situation and take appropriate action where necessary.’
