Ireland West Airport Knock is pleased to announce today, October 5th 2006, that Ireland’s largest airline Ryanair will operate a new route between Ireland West Airport Knock and Nottingham East Midlands Airport. The four times a week service will commence on February 27th 2007 and will compliment Ryanair’s existing daily scheduled flights from Ireland West Airport Knock into London Luton and London Stansted airports.
The new service will bring 60,000 additional passengers per annum through Ireland West Airport Knock. Welcoming the new route Mr Liam Scollan, MD, Ireland West Airport Knock said: “We are actively striving to expand further the Airport’s network of scheduled flight services into the UK and the addition of this new route operated by Ryanair will provide a valuable service to our holiday and business passengers both in our region and in Britain. Tourists on this route will fill 113,000 extra bednights in our accommodation sector and bring in an estimated €8mln in additional tourism spend to the West and North West region.”
Lorna Farren, Ryanair Communications Executive, at today’s press conference said: “Ryanair is delighted to announce this new route from Ireland West Knock to Nottingham East Midlands. Ryanair is committed to increasing access to Ireland West, and this new route will provide an entirely new catchment area for tourism to the region, providing 25,000 additional tourist visitors per annum.”

Nottingham East Midlands Airport is a highly populated area of central England, 13 miles southwest of Nottingham, 17 miles southeast of Derby and 19 miles northwest of Leicester making it a principal gateway to the Midlands.
